Jammu: Two day winter sports carnival organised by the Indian Army in Ramban district of Jammu and Kashmir concluded on Monday, with 13-year-old Junaid Ahmed Bhat of Mohu village bagging the coveted title in a nail biting finish.

The event witnessed enthusiastic participation by children from all 12 villages of Mohubal region, said an Army spokesperson Lt Colonel Devender Anand. Pointing out that a 250-meter stretch for sledging was carefully selected, he said that the participants were provided with safety gears including helmet, elbow and knee pads by the Army.
Finals were witnessed by local villagers in large number. The Winter Carnival culminated with prize distribution and refreshments.
Such events will channelize the youth of region towards constructive activities, he said, adding that huge success of the event will also promote the tourism potential of Ramban district in future.
