Rahul Gandhi accuses BJP of causing damage to Hindus in the name of Hinduism

Jammu: Congress leader and Wayanad MP Rahul Gandhi on Friday accused BJP and RSS of attacking composite culture and harmony in Jammu.

Addressing a sammelan of party officer bearers here before concluding his two day visit to Jammu this afternoon, he said they were working against Hindus in the name of Hinduism.

In this context, he referred to the symbols of Ma Durga, Ma Laxmi and Ma Saraswati in the holy shrine of Mata Vaishnodevi. While Durga symbolises the power to protest, Laxmi to fulfil one’s aim and Saraswati knowledge, he said that all these powers got weakened when BJP government made Jammu Kashmir a Union Territory, brought Farm laws, demonetisation and GST, besides appointing people from RSS and other saffron organisations in institutions of higher learning.

During his 19 minute address, he did not speak anything about Article 370 or Jammu Kashmir’s special status.

He, however, slammed BJP of creating fear among the people. “BJP symbolises fear””, while Congress’ symbol hand means “Dar Mat” (do not fear), he said.

Playing an emotional cord by referring to his ancestors’ old connection with Kashmir and the Kashmiri Pandits, he said whenever he visits here he feels at home. The same feeling I got while visiting Mata Vaishnodevi on Thursday, he added.

He called for empowering party workers, saying the day they felt that their voice is heard in the party, Congress will come back with not 100, 200, 300, but 450 seats in the Parliament.
