Two cops, a soldier injured as gun fight with militants resume after 10 days in Poonch forests

A Pakistani militant who was taken to the encounter site to identify the hideout was also injured


JAMMU, OCTOBER 24: Two Jammu Kashmir Police personnel and a solider were injured as fierce gun fight resumed with militants after ten days on Sunday in Poonch district’s Bhata Durian forests of Mendhar tehsil.
A Pakistani militant who was taken to the encounter site from high security Kit Bhalwal jail to take the search parties to militants hideout  also sustained injuries. However, he couldn’t be retrieved back in view of intense firing from militants.
Identifying the militant as Zia Mustafa, a Pakistani owing allegiance to  LeT, was reportedly in jail since 2003. Sources said that he was in constant touch with militants who had killed four soldiers including a JCO in Bhata Durian forests on October 14 evening. 
Earlier on October 11 morning, five soldiers including a JCO were killed in gun fight with militants in Chamrel forests near DKG in Surankote tehsil of Poonch. Police believe that militants involved in both the killings are the same.
“During the search when team approached hideout, militants again opened fire on joint team of police and army personnel in which two policemen and an army jawan sustained injuries. Mustafa also sustained injuries &he could not be extracted from the site due to heavy fire,” sources said.
