Domestic help emerges main accused in DGP Lohia’s murder

J&K Police rule out any terror angle into the killing.

JAMMU, OCTOBER 4: The Jammu and Kashmir Police on Tuesday said that its initial investigations into the death of Director General Prisons, Hemant Kunar Lohia, have led them to deceased’s domestic help Yasir Ahmed of Ramban.

“So far no terror act is apparent as per initial investigation, but thorough probe is on to rule out any possibility,” Director General of Police, J&K Dilbagh Singh said. 

Pointing that Yasir has emerged as main accused in the matter, he said that “some CCTV footages collected from the incident site also shows the suspected accused running away after commission of this crime”.

He was working in this house for the past nearly six months, the police said, adding that initial investigation also reveals that he was quite aggressive in his behaviour and was also under depression.

The weapon of offence has been seized, besides some documentary evidence reflecting his mental state, he said.

The police also circulated photographs of suspected accused along with some telephone numbers on social media and appealed the  general public to share information with it about him, or if he is seen by anywhere. The telephone numbers are: 9797517317, 9419101474, 0191-2543937.

In a shocking incident, Director General of Police, Prisons, Hemant Kunar Lohia was late Monday night found dead under suspicious circumstances at a house in Udaywala area on the outskirts of Jammu city.

Police had suspected it to be case of murder with his throat slit with some sharp edged weapon.
