J&K | Two infiltrators killed in north Kashmir’s Kupwara

Srinagar: There were a number of intelligence inputs that were received from JKP, Indian Army and different intelligence agencies regarding infiltration attempts by a group of 02-04 foreign terrorists in Machhal Sector, Kupwara.

A Joint Operation was launched by Indian Army and JKP in General Area Gucchi Nar in Machhal Sector on the night 29/30 Sept 2023. Multiple ambushes were laid ahead of own side of LOC fence.

The area is thickly forested with extreme dense foliage. At around 1040 hours on 30 Sept, the ambush party noticed movement of two terrorists from Pakistan side and noticed them approaching towards the LOC fence. The ambush party maintained complete tactical surprise and fire fight ensured where terrorists tried to flee across the LOC under the cover of dense foliage, however, firefight resulted in killing of one terrorist instantly. Later, during the ensuing fire fight, the second terrorist was also neutralized. Subsequently, search of the area was carried out where dead bodies of two terrorists were recovered. Two AK Series Rifles, ninety rounds of AK ammunition, one Pistol, two Hand Grenades, Pakistan Currency notes worth 2100/-, Winter Clothing, medicines and other war-like stores were also recovered. Operation is in progress and detailed search of the area continues.

This has once again brought to fore the nefarious designs of Pakistan in supporting terrorists and trying to disrupt peace and development in Kashmir. The high level of synergy between security forces and intelligence agencies has once again proved to be very effective in foiling infiltration attempt and elimination of terrorists along the LOC.
