50.08 per cent cast vote in 4th phase of DDC polls in J&K

Jammu, December 7: A total of 50.08 per cent of the 7.17 lakh electorate cast their vote in 34 DDC constituencies which went to polls during the fourth phase across the UT. Former ministers Shakti Parihar and Shabir Khan were among the 249 candidates in the fray in these constituencies, of which 17 each fell in Jammu and Kashmir divisions.

Giving details, UT’State Election Commissioner K K Sharma said that the polling percentage in Jammu and 69.32 and 31.95 in Kashmir. The highest 56.28 per cent polling took place in Ganderbal and the lowest 1.96 in Shopian. While Pukwama registered 6.70 per cent and Kulgam 8.73 per cent polling, it was 47.43 per cent in Baramulla, Bandipora (45.22) and Kuowara (44.35).

In Jammu, the highest 75.42 per cent polling was registered in border Poonch district, followed by Doda (75.03), Samba (71.97), Jammu (71.80), Rajouri (71.22), Kishtwar (70.33), Ramban (67.39), Reasi (62.67), Kathua (61.23) and Udhampur (59.90).

With this, polling has been complete in 50 per cent of the 280 DDC constituencies across the UT, he said.
