Bovine smugglers attack police party in Bishnah; SHO injured

Jammu: A police inspector was among two policemen injured on Su day night when some bovine smugglers allegedly attacked a police party in Jammu and Kashmir’s BISHNAH area near here.Identified as Tahir Khan, SHO Bishnah police station, he along with a police party had laid a naka between Lalyak and Waziruchak area following information that some bovine smugglers were likely to pass through the area along with cattle.It was dense fog when around mid night, the police party noticed some people along with some cattle.On seeing the police, while the alleged smugglers fled, the police party directed the cattle towards police station.However, before they could reach the police station, the alleged smugglers regrouped and attacked the police party injuring SHO and an ASI.The SHO Tahir Khan sustained serious injuries in the head and was rushed to GMC Jammu. Senior police officers including IGP Jammu, Mukesh Singh, DIG Vivek Gupta and SSP Shridhar Patil rushed to the spot soon after getting information about attack on police party.The condition of SHO was stated to be stable now. Police have arrested six people in the matter.
