Corona curfew extended in J&K by another week till May 17

Jammu: The UT administration on Sunday extended “Corona curfew’’ by a week in all the 20 districts of the Union Territory following continued spike in number of COVID-19 positive cases across Jammu and Kashmir,.

Corona Curfew imposed in all 20 districts of J&K till 7 am on Monday (May 10) is extended further by 7 days till 7 am on Monday (May 17),’’ read a tweet from the office of Lt Governor Manoj Sinha. “The curfew will be strict except for a few essential services,’’ it added.

Apart from this, the administration further reduced the permissible gatherings for marriages etc., from 50 to 25 with immediate effect.

Meanwhile, normal life remained affected in Jammu and Kashmir on Sunday for the eleven consequtive days due to lockdown in the wake of record surge in coronavirus cases.Police and paramilitary forces had put barricades on roads at many places in Jammu and Kashmir divisions to prevent the movement of people. However, essential and emergency services are allowed, the officials added. The public transport was also off the roads.
