Farmers happy as wheat procurement in full swing; says Dr Ashwani Jojra

Jammu: Wheat procurement at procurement Crabtree set up by the government in Marh is in full swing.

This was observed by Dr Ashwani Jojra, Sub Divisional Agriculture Officer Marh (SDAO, MARH), at Bhadrode.

During interaction with him, the farmers/beneficiaries including Manohar Lal, Uttam Singh, Sodagar Singh, Thoru Ram,Vikram Singh, Gurdeep Singh & Ved Singh, appreciated the joint initiative of Food Corporation of India and the Department of Agriculture & Farmers Welfare for establishing procurement centres. These have helped them in getting good return of their produce, they said while referring to government procuring their wheat at the rate of Rs 1975 per quintal.

The Procurement is strictly under the guidance of SOPs of COVID-19. 

Appreciating the LG Manoj Sinha and senior officers of Agriculture Department, farmers demanded opening of more such procurement centres.

In response to their request, Dr.Ashwani Jojra said that it will be projected to the higher authorities. Those present on the occasion included Tirath Singh Bhalwal  AEO, Pounichak, Tanu Gandotra AEA, Vishal Manny AEA & Rakesh Singh AEA. 

The total update of Bhadrode Mandi is as, total beneficiary 57, total bags received 4819, total wheat procured till date 935 Qtls & Rs 42.591 Lakh disbursed among the beneficiaries.
