J&K sets up 10-member panel to prepare action plan to tackle 3rd wave of COVID-19

Jammu: The UT government on Tuesday constituted a 10-member committee to formulate an action plan to tackle the possible third wave of COVID-19.

Headed by ex-Director SKIMS, Soura, Dr M S Khuroo as chairperson and Dr Shakti Gupta, Executive Director and CEO AIIMS Jammu as co-chairperson, the committee has members in Dr A G Ahanar, Director SKIMS, Soura; Dr Samia Rashid, Principal GMC Srinagar; Dr Yash Pal Sharma, Director (Coordination) New Medical colleges, J&K and Managing Director JKMSCL; Yasin Choudhary, Mission Director NHM Jammu; Dr Saleem, Head of PSM Department, GMC, Srinagar; Dr Muzaffar Jan, Head of Pediatrics Department, GMC Srinagar; Dr Rahul Gupta, Head of Chest Diseases Department, GMC Jammu; Dr Khalid, senior Resident Administrator, Department of Hospital Administration, AIIMS Delhi.

The team will prepare an action plan to tackle possible third wave of COVID-19 in the UT of Jammu and Kashmir with special focus on preparedness in terms of creation of health infrastructure, enhancement of testing capacities, treatment protocols, arrangement of essential drugs/logistics, machinery and equipment, oxygen supply, man power etc.

It will also focus on ramping up COVID hospital beds, critical care units especial for pediatrics/neo natal age group, which is likely to be affected more; strengthening of health care and COVID care facilities in rural area of the UT, devising additional COVID appropriate behavior and SOPs/guidelines that are required.
