Northern Army Commander facilitates ‘living legend of good health management’ in remote Dudu village

Basantgarh (Udhampur): Northern Army Commander Y K Joshi on Thursday visited the house of a centenarian woman Dholi Devi in remote Dudu village of Jammu and Kashmir’s Udhampur district.

The living legend for good health, the 120-year old Dholi Devi had set a personal example in taking the lead for vaccination by taking the first shot of Covid vaccine in the remote Udhampur village.

In an environment wherein even educated people in urban areas are often hesitant to undertake COVID-19 vaccination, a 120 year old women has set an example by taking the vaccination on May 17 this year. Inspired by her, other residents of this village also came forward for inoculation.

To acknowledge her inspirational act and increase awareness and sensitise civil population about benefits of COVID vaccination drive, Lt Gen YK Joshi,GOC-In-C, Northern Command felicitated Dholi Devi, at her residence on 21 May 2021. 

The Army Commander also interacted with the health care workers in the village and appreciated their dedication in taking the COVID-19 vaccination drive to remotest areas of J&K.
