ARMY CONDUCTED MOBILE MEDICAL AND VETERINARY ASSISTANCE TO GUJJARS AND BAKARWALS OF PIR PANJAL IN DISTRICT RAJOURI.

Jammu:Indian Army has been on the forefront and working tirelessly in its efforts to fight against the COVID pandemic and  support the people of remote areas of Pir Panjal Ranges of District Rajouri (J&K). In continuation of its efforts, Indian Army at Samote in District Rajouri (J&K) organised a mobile medical and veterinary camp to reach out and provide the medical care to Gujjars and Bakarwals who are migrating to higher reaches and moving across to Kashmir valley.
 
          COVID pandemic took the whole nation to a standstill. However, Indian Army has been at the forefront to minimise the impact of the pandemic and provide succor to the people of this region. In continuation of its efforts to fight against pandemic and also look after the medical requirements of livestock belonging to Gujjars and Bakarwals. Indian Army in collaboration with Dr Amit Khajuria and Dr Gulab Singh from Rajouri District,  moved to various seasonal settlements of migratory population and provided medical and veterinary assistance at the doorsteps by visiting their Dhoks on Pir Panjal Ranges on 10 Jun 21. A total of 80 Gujjars and  Bakarwal families and 250 goat and sheep, 40 horses and 183 Buffaloes were benefited from this mobile medical and veterinary camp. During this camp, stationery was also distributed to the children. The entire activity was carried out keeping in mind strict COVID protocols. This event also gave an opportunity to spread awareness amongst the populace on COVID protection and importance of COVID vaccination.
 
          The mobile medical and veterinary camp carried out for needy Gujjars and Bakarwal families has generated a lot of goodwill in the area. Locals have heartily appreciated the  assistance given by the Indian Army to the needy AWAM and have conveyed their sincere thanks and gratitude for this noble gesture.
