Overcoming all challenges, Udhampur Boy scores 98.6 per cent marks in class 10 exams

Udhampur: Mandeep Singh, a student of 10th class, hailing from remote village Amroh of Udhampur district has proven that determination and hard work is key to success against all challenges and difficulties.

Despite facing lot of difficulties, Mandeep, student of Government High School, Amroh, has secured 98.6% marks in recently declared results of 10th class examination of Jammu and Kashmir Board of School Education.

Mandeep, who lives in remote Amroh village had to cross high terrains of forests and Nallahs by foot everyday to reach school. “I used to walk more than 3Kms everyday to reach school and I was always determined to go to school and get proper education and guidance”, Mandeep says.

Despite facing regular difficulties of power outages and other things, Mandeep never got tired and remained commited to his studies. “I used to study in candle light as there is no regular electricity in our area. I never made this as an excuse to not study during night hours”, Mandeep said.

While sharing his experience related to study Mandeep said that during the lock down his elder brother helped him in his studies. “We belong to a very poor family having no mobile phone, Internet services, laptop and I studied from books throughout the year with rhe help of my elder brother,’’ he added.

Highlighting that hard work is the key to success, Mandeep in his message to fellow students advised them to read news papers and general knowledge books in addition to their syllabus books.

Mandeep’s father, Sham Singh, a farmer by profession described the achievement of his son an example of hard work and dedication. “My son has proven that hard work is key to success and has secured top position in class 10th Board exams and set an example of hard work in district,” an elated Sham Singh said. Mandeep made this feat in studies when he used to help me also in the fields and household works daily, he pointed out.

Sham Singh further says that he himself studied for few years in school so he always gave importance to the studies of his children and regularly checks on their progress. He added that they belong to backward area and they have to face many hardships but his son braved all odds to achieve this success. He thanked the school Administration and credited School teachers for his achievement.

For this achievement, Mandeep gave credit to his parents and especially elder brother namely Shiv Dev Singh who supported him for his studies during the whole academic year. Various prominent figures from all walks of life visited his residence and congratulated him for his academic excellence in Board exams.

Mandeep wants to be a doctor after qualifying NEET. He wants the government help students hailing from such backward areas in getting coaching for it.
