BSF seized 632 kg of narcotics worth Rs 2786 cr on Western border last year

New Delhi: BSF troops have seized an over 632 kg of narcotics worth Rs 2,786 crore, besides 55 weapons and 4,223 rounds of ammunition along the Western border during last year.

Disclosing this at BSF’s 18th investiture ceremony on Saturday, Director General of BSF Rakesh Asthana said that it has also killed 22 infiltrators and arrested 165, besides detecting four cross border tunnels and 61 drones.

Along the India-Bangladesh border, it apprehended 3,984 infiltrators and killed 12 smugglers/infiltrators in encounters. The soldiers have recovered Rs 24.51 lakh in fake currency and narcotic drugs worth Rs 27.5 crore, he added.

Recently, the BSF has thwarted attempts of sending firearms and narcotics through tunnels, drones & attempts of infiltration by terrorists, he said.
