Education institutions to remain closed in J&K as UT Govt issues fresh Covid containment guidelines

Jammu: The Jammu and Kashmir government on Sunday issued fresh guidelines on Covid containment in the Union Territory saying that all the schools, colleges and other educational institutions including coaching centres shall remain closed till further orders. 

However, they are permitted to seek personal attendance of limited vaccinated staff for administrative purposes, it said in an order issued here. The decision was taken after a detailed review of the current COVID situation in Jammu and Kashmir was conducted by the Chief Secretary with  Additional Chief Secretary Health and Medical Education, Principal Secretary Home, Divisional Commissioners, Deputy Commissionsers, SPs and other officers of J&K.

Pointing out that night curfew shall continue to remain in force in all the districts of the UT from 8 pm to 7 am, it said that maximum number of people permitted to attend any indoor/outdoor gathering shall be restricted to 25.

Meanwhile, a total of 145 COVID positive cases were reported in the UT during the last 24 hours including 48 from Jammu division and 97 from Kashmir Valley. There was also one Corona related death reported from Government Medical College Hospital at Jammu.
