BJP mandal president among 5 injured in mysterious explosion in Rajouri

Rajouri: A BJP leader along with 4-5 of his family members was injured in an explosion that took place on Thursday night at his residence in Rajouri town’s Khandli bridge.

Identifying the injured BJP leader as Mandal President Jasbir Singh, sources said that the explosion is reported to have taken place in the verandah of the house. However, the details are awaited.

Additional Director General of Police Mukesh Singh confirmed the explosion taking place in Rajouri town, adding that some injuries have been reported. The DIG and SSP are on the spot, he added.

Meanwhile, four people including BJP mandal president, sources said have been brought to the Rajouri district hospital in an injured condition.

Panic erupted in Rajouri town with people in large numbers rushing to the hospital to find out the details.

In view of the coming Independence Day, police and security forces have already been on high alert in view of inputs about militants’ plans to cause violence.

Only last week, Jammu Kashmir Police along with security forces had killed two militants including a Pakistani in Thanamandi area of Rajouri district. They were part of a four member group who had freshly infiltrated into the district from across the Line of Control, sources said.
