Jammu University to name its Gymnasium, Indoor Sports Facility  after Ace Shuttler PV Sindhu


Jammu University has decided to name its Gymnasium/Indoor Sports Facility  Hall after two times Olympic Medalist and Ace Shuttler P.V Sandhu said Prof Manoj K Dhar, Vice-Chancellor, University of Jammu in his Independence Day address. Prof Dhar further said that this move will definitely motivate young sportspersons of the UT J&K and the Country as well to pursue various sports activities and make professions out of it.
It is noteworthy to mention here that she is the first Indian to become the Badminton World Champion and only the second individual athlete from India to win two consecutive medals at the Olympic Games. She rose to a career-high world ranking of no. 2 in April 2017. She is the recipient of the sports honour Major Dhyan Chand Khel Ratna, and India’s fourth-highest civilian award, the Padma Shri. She was also honoured with Padma Bhushan, the third-highest civilian award in India, in January 2020.
