J&K police apprehend Afghan national at Lakhanpur

According to him, he was on way to Kashmir from Delhi for onward journey to Afghanistan

Jammu: The Jammu Kashmir Police on Tuesday apprehended a 17-year old Afghanistan national at Lakhanpur in Kathua district when he was travelling to Kashmir.

A senior police officer said that he had come to India on valid travel documents in July this year as an attendant to his brother, an Afghan Army soldier, who had sustained a billet injury. The injured soldier was reportedly undergoing treatment at an Army Hospital in Delhi.

The Afghan National was apprehended from an inter state passenger bus coming from Delhi when all the passengers boarded off the vehicle to undergo Rapid Antigen test for COVID-19 at Lakhanpur, the entry point to J&K from. Punjab side.

During preliminary questioning, he told the police that he was going to Kashmir and from there, he planned to go to Afghanistan as he was feeling home sick. 

However, his detailed questioning was in progress.
