JAMMU, MARCH 18: Union Home Minister Amit Shah arrived here in a BSF plane on Friday evening  on a two-day visit of the Union Territory.

He was received by Union Minister of State in the PMO, Dr Jitendra Singh, BJP MP from Jammu-Poonch Lok Sabha constituency Jugal Kishore Sharma among others at the Airport’s Technical Area around 7.30 pm.

Immediately thereafter, his cavalcade drove to Raj Bhawan where he is scheduled to chair a high level security review meeting with top officials of the security forces, police, intelligence agencies and civil administration.

On Saturday, he will address CRPF Raising Day Parade at MA Stadium. Sources said the Home Minister is also scheduled to visit Mahanpur in Kathua district where high-security prison is coming up. He will also visit some CRPF formations and interact with the jawans on Raising Day of the Force.

Senior officials of para-military forces and Intelligence agencies will reach here from New Delhi and Kashmir tomorrow. The officers of civil administration and Jammu and Kashmir Police are already in Jammu monitoring security and other arrangements for the Home Minister’s visit.

Security review by the Home Minister comes close on the heels of recent killings of three Panchayat members and two security personnel who had come home on leave in Kashmir. At the same time, there has been no let up in the killings of militants. A number of militants including top commanders of the outfits have been gunned down by the security personnel in the Kashmir valley.
