JAMMU, APRIL 5: The Jammu and Kashmir Public Service Commission here on Tuesday said that the Mains exam for the J&K Administrative Services will be held as per schedule from April 8 – 17.

The National Conference MP Hasnain Masoodi has on Monday demanded the Commission to reschedule the exam as only a week’s time was given to the aspirants instead of mandatory 30 days for the appearing in the exams.

Pointing out that there was no truth in the charge, the Jammu and Kashmir Public Service Commission Chairman B R Sharma said that more than 30-day notice was given to the candidates appearing in Combined Competitive (Mains) Examination. Elaborating, he said that the Commission through a notice on November 13 last year informed the candidates qualifying for the Mains exam that it will be held in the second fortnight of February 2022.

The Mains Exam was scheduled to be held from March 10-18, but some candidates who did not qualify for it approached the High Court and the latter asked the Commission to consider allowing them appear in the exam, Sharma said, adding that the Commission instead filed objections in the matter. The Mains Exam had to be deferred as the Court did not pronounce its verdict till March 9, he added.

On April 1, the court dismissed the petition and imposed a penalty of Rs 50,000 on the petitioners and the Commission decided to hold the exam from April 8 – 17.
