Jammu court summons Rubaiya Sayeed in case of her abduction involving Yasin Malik

JAMMU, MAY 27: TADA Court here on Friday summoned Rubaiya Sayeed, daughter of former Union Home Minister Mufti Mohammad Sayeed, on July 15 for recording her statement before it in a case of her abduction involving the Kashmiri separatist leader.

Rubaiya is one of the prosecution witnesses in the case involving Yasin Malik and nine others against whom court had framed charges in January last year, more than 31 years after her abduction. The nine others include Ali Mohammad Mir, Mohammad Zaman Mir, Iqbal Ahmad Gandroo, Javed Ahmad Mir alias Nalka, Mohammad Rafiq Pahloo alias Nana Ji alias Saleem, Manzoor Ahmed Sofi, Wajahat Bashir, Mehraj-ud-Din Sheikh and Showkat Ahmad Bakshi.

While Yasin Malik, Ali Mohammad Mir, Iqbal Ahmed Gandroo, Manzoor Ahmed Sofi, Mehraj-u-Din Sheikh and Rafiq Ahmed Pahloo have committed the offences of entering into criminal conspiracy, kidnapping Rubaiya with an intention to murder and keeping her in wrongful confinement under provisions of Ranbir Penal Code, apart from Terrorists and Disruptive Activities (TADA) Act and Indian Arms Act, the other accused – Mohammad Zaman Mir, Javed Ahmed Mir, Wajahat Bashir and Shoukat Ahmed Bakshi – have been  charged with criminal conspiracy, keeping Rubaiya under wrongful confinement and provisions of TADA Act.

On Wednesday, an NIA court in Delhi had awarded life sentence to the Kashmiri separatist leader in a case relating to terrorism and secessionist activities in 2016-17.
