JAMMU, OCTOBER 15: An Army personnel was injured in a mine explosion on Sunday near the Line of Control in Jammu and Kashmir’s border Rajouri district.
Identifying the injured as Rifleman Gurcharan Singh, police sources said that he was on patrolling in area along the LoC in Nowshera sector’s Kalsian village when he accidentally stepped over the landmine. He has been evacuated to the nearby hospital from where he was airlifted to Army’s Command Hospital at Udhampur for specialised treatment.
As part of the counter-infiltration strategy, the army is using landmines to plug the possible infiltration routes to stop armed terrorists from entering into this side and sometimes the explosive devices get dislocated due to rains causing the accidental blasts.
