Over Rs 1.64 crore seized from a border village in Nowshera; accused absconding

Jammu: J&K Police and Army troops in a joint operation on Tuesday seized two bags containing Rs 1.64 crore from Saryah village near the Line of Control in Jammu and Kashmir’s border Rajouri district.
Giving details, police said that based on credible inputs, it along with Indian launched a search operation at village Saryah. During search operation, it found two bags containing cash worth Rs 1,64,70,600.
On enquiry, it was found that the bags belonged to one Manzoor Ahmad, S/O Gulzar Hussain of Saryah, who is presently evading arrest. 

The  amount was seized in  the presence of a magistrate and FIR NO 184/2021 US 17, 21 UAP Act, 1967 has been lodged in police station Nowshera and investigation has been taken up. Further arrests expected.

Mazoor is brother of an alleged narcotics peddler Sikandar of the same village who was recently arrested by a joint team of Punjab Police and Jammu Kashmir Police in FIR no. 164/2021 of Police Station Kathu Nangal (Punjab). 
Earlier, police had recovered nearly Rs 29 lakh from Sikandar’s house.
