Cong Councilor arrested in Leh for making fake posts of a woman on social media

Leh, December 24: UT Police on Thursday arrested a sitting Congress Councilor of Ladakh Autonomous Hill Development Council, Leh, for allegedly making fake profiles of a local lady on various social media accounts and transmitting obscene photographs and her personal phone number all around.

The accused has been identified as Phuntsog Stanzin Tsepag, representing Upper Leh in the hill council of Leh district. He was later granted bail by the court.

Giving details, police said that a local lady had lodged a complaint that someone was making her fake profiles on various social media accounts and transmitting obscene words and photographs along with her personal phone number all around. Accordingly, police registered a case under section 67-A, 66-C of the IT Act.

During the course of investigation, the accused was  tracked down through technical surveillance and investigation and he was  @arrested on Wednesday and kept in the lock-up”, police added.

The accused is currently granted bail by the court on Thursday.
