Winter vacations in colleges from Dec 26, 28
Srinagar: The J&K Higher Education Department on Thursday announced winter vacation for Government Degree Colleges (GDCs) in Kashmir and in winter zones of Jammu from December 28 to Februry 14. However, degree colleges in summer zones of Jammu division will observe winter vacations from December 26 to January 4, officials said.
16 bovines rescued; 1 held
Kathua: Police on Thursday arrested one Narinder Singh of Punjab’s Gurdspur district and rescued 16 bovine animals in Lakhanpur area of Jammu and Kashmir. Pointing out that the accused was carrying bovine animals in his truck illegally, police said that the truck was stopped for checking by police at a naka.
No vehicular traffic on NH on Friday
Doda: The UT’s Traffic Police on Thursday said that no vehicular traffic will be allowed to ply on the Jammu-Srinagar and Batote-Doda national highways on December 25. The decision has been taken to undertake necessary repairs and maintenance works relating to the road.
