LG pays tributes to Atal Behari Vajpayee

Jammu: UT’s Lt Governor Manoj Sinha on Friday paid tributes to former Prime Minister, Bharat Ratna Atal Bihari Vajpayee on his birth anniversary. “Atal Ji was a distinguished statesman, cherished leader, prolific poet, and a social reformer who deeply enriched the Indian political space and contributed immensely to our Nation’s progress. The country also remembers December 25 as Good Governance Day to honour Atal Ji. We must pledge to devote ourselves to this cause”, said the Lt Governor. The Lt Governor observed that the former Prime Minister made a significant mark as a political figure in nation’s history with his incredible intellect, fairness, and modesty. “He was a stalwart loved and respected across all sections of society, he said, adding his great wisdom and faith in the power of democracy will continue to guide our future generations.

Militant held in Jammu

Jammu: UT police during wee hours of Saturday apprehended a Kashmiri militant along with arms and ammunition and averted a major terror plan to strike in Jammu city. Identified as Riyaz Ahmed of Qazigund, an AK 47 rifle, one pistol and three grenades were seized from him. He was apprehended in Narwal Jammu where he reached in a truck from Kashmir. His questioning was in progress.

FIR against ex-PDP legislator in Nowshera

Nowshera: UT Police have registered a case against ex-PDP legislator Surinder Choudhary for allegedly trespassing and assaulting a local shopkeeper. However, no arrest has been made into the matter.

House owner missing

Baramulla: Mehraj-ud-Din, a 40-year-old businessman in whose house two Jaish-e-Mohammad militants were killed during an encounter by police and CRPF on Thursday, has been missing for past two days, said his family on Friday. “We have searched him everywhere, but to no avail,’’ said one of the family member, adding that they were now approaching police to register a missing report.
