NH closed for 6th day; Bailey bridge construction nearing completion, trial run on Saturday

Ramban: The vehicular traffic on the Jammu and Srinagar national highway remained suspended for 6th  day on Friday due to the caving in of the retention wall of a bridge and the sinking of about 15 mts road stretch at Kaila Mod in Ramban district of Jammu and Kashmir.

GREF Chief Engineer Brig I K Jaggi who has been supervising the setting up of a bailey bridge at the damaged bridge site for the past two days, said that 50 per cent work of the installation of a temporary bailey bridge has been completed and the trial run on the bridge is expected to be carried out on Saturday.

The National Highway Authority of India is already working day and night to repair the damaged portion of the bridge.

Today the   District Development Commissioner (DDC), Ramban, Nazim Zai Khan accompanied by Prooject Director, NHAI, Purshotam Kumar again monitored the construction work of Bailey bridge.
