No Beating The Retreat ceremony on Wagah-Attari border this Republi Day

Amritsar: In view of the Covid-19 pandemic, there will be no Beating The Retreat ceremony at Wagah-Attari border this Republic Day on January 26.

Sources on Monday said “No joint or coordinated parade will be conducted this year on Attari border on Republic Day’’. India will conduct flag-lowering as per daily schedule, but public will not be allowed due to Covid-19 restrictions’’.

The retreat ceremony, which is held by BSF at Wagah-Attari border on January 26 every year, was closed for the general public following Covid pandemic since March 7, 2020. The retreat ceremony was started in 1959 at Joint Check Post (JCP) at the Wagah-Attari border.
