JCB operator killed after getting hit by landslides at Samroli near Udhampur

Jammu: A JCB operator was killed and another injured on Friday when they were hit by landslides along the Jammu-Srinagar national highway near Udhampur.

Giving details, sources said that the victims had begun clearing the road which had got blocked by landslides at Samroli. The injured was a tipper driver.

While JCB fell into the gorge, the tipper caught fire after being hit by a boulder, sources said.

Meanwhile, a large number of vehicles on both sides of the road were blocked. The traffic police has in an advisory asked people not to travel towards Srinagar from Jammu until the roads gets cleared of landslides.

Meanwhile, a 12-year-old girl was killed and eight other persons were injured when a vehicle they were travelling in skidded off the road and rolled down a slope in Rajouri district of Jammu division on Friday, officials said.  They said that the sumo (JK11-9709) was on way to Thanamandi to Alal when it met with an accident near Thanna Mandi Darra on PMGSY road. The vehicle rolled several meters down the slope.
