Covid-19 surge: J&K Govt announces closure of primary to class 9 for two weeks; Classes 10, 11, 12 for a week from Monday

Srinagar: Following surge in COVID-19 cases, Jammu and Kashmir government on Sunday announced the closure of all schools from primary to class 9 for two weeks beginning Monday.However, the 10, 11 and 12 classes will remain closed for a week from April 5, said an order issued by Secretary Disaster Management, Relief Rehabilitation and Reconstruction Department Simrandeep Singh. However, exams for class 10 and 12 will be held as per schedule, it added.This follows a detailed review of the current COVID situation with the Financial Commissioner Health, Administrative Secretary Education and the Divisional Commissioners of both Kashmir and Jammu divisions, it added,It also put a ceiling of 200 people on all social/customary  gatherings or functions subject to strict adherence to COVID protocol already issued by the government.
