Police register FIR against army men for manhandling SHO Rajouri Police Station

Jammu: Jammu Kashmir Police on Saturday registered an FIR against some army men who allegedly manhandled the Station House Officer of Rajouri Police Station, Inspector Sameer Jillani.

The incident took place when the latter was travelling along the Mughal Road which connect Jammu division’s border Poonch district with Shopian in Kashmir Valley.

Sources said that the police officer was stopped from moving further by army men at a naka in Poshana area. The road is, at present, open for medical emergencies, movement of load carriers carrying fruit and vegetable, besides nomads who along with their cattle were proceeding to their pastures on the higher reaches.

The army men reportedly refused to oblige even after the SHO disclosed his identity leading to heated exchanges between them. During arguments, the army men reportedly manhandled the SHO.

On hearing about the incident, senior police and army officers from Poonch rushed to the spot, sources said.
