4 sarpanch among 8 booked in Bhaderwah for protest during Advisor’s Visit

Bhaderwah: Jammu Kashmir Police has booked at least eight persons including four sarpanchs and a government teacher for staging a protest to demand road connectivity to their respective villages during an official visit of Farooq Khan, advisor to LG Governor Manoj Sinha to Bhaderwah.

Sources said that they have been booked under Epidemic Disease Act 1997 for violating Covid-19 restrictions imposed in the district.

They added the several locals of various panchayats of Bhaderwah had assembled on Bhaderwah-Pul Doda road and blocked the road, demanding road connectivity to their panchayats.

The locals and sarpanchs have been booked under FIR NO. 118/2021 U/S 188 IPC,51 DM Act 2005 R/W Sec-3 Epidemic Disease Act 1997 for blocking the road at Kulshari near Petrol pump when advisor Farooq Khan was on way to Bhaderwah on an official visit to address public issues.

The locals have termed the police action against the ethics of a democratic society.
