After J&K, Centre now invites leaders from Kargil for talks on July 1

Jammu: Three days after Prime Minister Narendra Modi convened an all party meeting with leaders from Jammu and Kashmir, Centre has now invited leaders from Kargil for talks on July 1.

Confirming that they will be meeting Union Minister of State for Home G Kishen Reddy at 11 am, president of the Kargil Democratic Alliance Kargil Democratic Alliance and senior Congress leader Asgar Karbalai said that “we will be putting forward only two demands – first restore Article 370 and 35-A and as the matter is sub judice in Supreme Court, give full fledged statehood to Ladakh’’.

He also confirmed having received an invitation for a meeting from Apex Body comprising all the socio, religious and political organisations of Leh.

The Apex Body leader  and formerThupstan Chewang had on Wednesday demanded Union Territory with Legislature for Ladakh. BJP MP from Ladakh Jamyang Tsering Namgyal, and chairperson of the Ladakh Autonomous Hill Development Council, Leh, Tashi Gyalson were also present.

“We had so far been demanding safeguards under 6th schedule of the Indian Constitution so as to address people’s apprehension in respect to land, reservation to jobs, culture, language and environment after the abrogation of Article 370 and 35-A of the Indian Constitution,’’ he had said.
