TA jawans rescue four civilians from a gorge near Ramban

Jammu: Endangering their own lives, soldiers of Territorial Army on Friday four people including a driver who had fallen into a 500 ft deep gorge in Jammu and Kashmir’s Ramban district.

Giving details, sources said that a Tata Sumo carrying passengers hit another civil vehicle at Digdaul around 1645 hours and thereafter rolled down into a 500 ft deep gorge from NH-44.

Territorial Army jawans from the nearby camp, on seeing the accident immediately rushed to the spot. Endangering their own lives, they went down a  80 degree steep slope and rescued the badly stuck passengers from the Tata Sumo.

In a short while other jawans from the Company also joined and increased the effort, gave First Aid to the injured passengers and shifted them to hospital. Unfortunately five other passengers lost their lives on the spot.

This humane gesture and swift rescue operations which saves precious lives was highly appreciated by the locals and the victims who thanked them for the noble act.
