Jammu: Two terrorists were killed on Friday in an encounter by a joint party of police and security forces on Friday in Jammu and Kashmir’s Thanamandi area of Rajouri district.
Though the slain terrorists are yet to be identified, sources said that they were part of a five member group which had come over to Rajouri following police and security forces pressure on them in Kashmir Valley. Two of the terrorists in the group are stated to be foreigners.
Based on human and technical intelligence, the police and security forces had been after them fir the past nearly a fortnight.
Sources said that the contact got established during searches by a joint team of police and security forces in Thanamandi area following specific tip off. As they approached towards the suspected place, terrorist hiding there opened fire.
The security forces and police retaliated. More reinforcements have been rushed and the area has been cordoned off, sources said. The encounter was in progress, sources said, adding that it has been almost nearly a decade an encounter has taken place with terrorist in the border Rajouri district.
