*Estates Department submits Fresh Status Report in HC

In a major development in PIL No. 17/2020 seeking eviction of Former Ministers/Legislators/Political Persons from the Ministerial Bungalows/Govt. Accommodation, the Estates Department today in its latest compliance report submitted pursuant to Orders of the Division Bench of the High Court of Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh dated November 15th, 2023 informed that four Ex-Legislators/Political Persons namely Shamsher Singh Manhas (Ex-MP), Chander Mohan Gupta (Former Mayor, Jammu Municipal Corporation), Bali Bhagat (Former Minister) and Abdul Rahim Rather (Former Finance Minister) were evicted/vacated Government accommodation provided by the Estates Department.

It is further submitted in the Compliance Report that Quarter No.RC-3, Partap Park (Order issued in the name of Muzaffar Hussain Shah) has been allotted as office accommodation in favour of Awami National Conference and Quarter No.J-53 (issued in the name of Vikram Randhawa) has been allotted as office accommodation in favour of BJP. The Compliance Report further says that the remaining 8 persons (Ex-Legislators/Political Persons) were also issued similar notices seeking details/information as to whether they possess any alternate accommodation at Jammu or Srinagar and the names of said Political Persons are Yasir Reshi (Ex-MLC), Sofi Yousuf (Ex-MLC), Reyaz Ahmed Mir (Political Person), Sonaullah Lone (Political Person), Sunil Sharma (Former Minister), Fayaz Ahmed Mir (Ex-MP), Mohd. Amin Bhat (Ex-MLA) and Bashir Ahmed Dar (Ex-MLA). It is worthwhile to mention herein that a PIL is sub-judice in the Jammu Wing of the High Court of J&K and Ladakh where in the petitioner has prayed for evicting the former Legislators from the Govt. Accommodation.
