Kandi belt in Samba lacks development: G. H. Mir

Samba: Apni Party Senior Vice President Ghulam Hassan Mir on Tueday urged the government to provide basic amenities in the Kandi belt of Samba district.

Accusing the previous government of having failed in developing the Kandi belt in the plains of Jammu, he said kandi belt of Samba lacks proper infrastructure like road connectivity, drinking water and electricity supply.

Mir, who also happens to be former minister, was addressing a public gathering at Chanoori in Sumb area of Samba district. During the meeting, the people of the area, mostly nomads complained of unscheduled power cuts, poor water supply system and adverse infrastructure adversely affecting their daily life.

Mir assured them that their demands would be projected before the concerned authorities for early redressal of their grievances.

Earlier, speaking on the occasion, Mir accused the administration of not listening to public issues. Pointing out that providing basic amenities like water, road, electricity and cleanliness is the responsibility of the administration, he said that it should be made accountable for its failure to redress the routine issues of the public.

He demanded early assembly polls in J&K for having an elected government. The bureaucracy has done nothing good for the people, he said, adding that their adamant attitude has created more issues and alienated people from the public friendly policies of the Central government.

Apni Party’s provincial president and former minister, Manjit Singh, also spoke on the occasion.
